Company Recognized for Technology Innovation, Business Strength, and Industry Disruption
SAN FRANCISCO — May 22, 2006 — 3VR Security, Inc., the pioneer of Intelligent Video Management Systems (IVMS) that convert raw video from security cameras into intelligently searchable information, today announce that it has been selected from a large pool of young companies, and is named a member of the annual “Red Herring 100 North America” by Red Herring magazine. This list of 100 privately held companies in North America recognizes those that demonstrate leadership through both technology innovation and business acumen. 3VR stands alone as the only physical security company on the list. On May 23, at the Red Herring Spring CEO Summit, Stephen Russell, CEO of 3VR, will demonstrate 3VR v4.0, the breakthrough in video surveillance technology that dramatically improves physical security. Currently installed in government and commercial facilities across the U.S., the product combines sophisticated biometrics, motion and object analytics with a searchable video database—the result is a highly-integrated security solution that makes it possible to proactively detect and preempt threats and conduct faster and more effective investigations. The Summit, held in Monterey, California, hosts a select group of 300 technology entrepreneurs, investors, and corporate developers.
Disruptive technologies and business plans
“With venture capital flowing again, we’re seeing a lot of innovative new companies taking on the established players with disruptive technologies and innovative business plans,” said Joel Dreyfuss, Editor-in-Chief of Red Herring. “The Red Herring 100 North America companies, among them 3VR, are pushing and breaking the boundaries of the technology business and we are excited to report on their success stories.”
“It’s an honor to receive the Red Herring 100 award, which further underscores 3VR’s commitment to delivering technology products that are not only innovative but that also solve real-world problems,” said Stephen Russell, 3VR’s CEO. “Rather than providing another product that only serves to overwhelm security professionals with extra video data, we’re applying our IVMS technology to help them manage that data and apply it to confront and contain security threats with a proactive - rather than reactive - approach.”
More than just buzz
Red Herring’s lists of top private companies are an important part of the renowned magazine’s tradition of identifying new and innovative technology firms and entrepreneurs. Companies like Google and eBay were spotted in their early days by Red Herring editors as some that would change the way we live and work.
After receiving more than 1,000 submissions and nominations, Red Herring’s editorial staff rigorously evaluated 3VR and the other contenders through a careful analysis of financial data and subjective criteria, including quality of management, execution of strategy, and dedication to research and development. The Red Herring 100 North America companies are at the forefront of the technologies that are changing our lives in profound ways.
Honoring the best
To honor the Red Herring 100 companies, Red Herring has invited their CEOs and founders to present at its Red Herring Spring 2006 conference, a forum for technology’s most exciting companies, and to share their insights on the future of innovation and the entrepreneurial journey. Scheduled to take place at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Monterey, this intimate, invitation-only conference will explore “The Pursuit of Disruption” and how it spawns unexpected opportunities, novel alliances, and great success stories.
