3VR™ Leads the Fight Against Fraud with Security’s First Integrated Searchable Surveillance System and Criminal Information Network

Acquires Amcrin Corporation® and Integrates CrimeDex™ Suspect Database with 3VR for Banks, Retailers and Law Enforcement

LAS VEGAS, NV — ISC WEST — March 28, 2007 — 3VR Security, Inc., www.3VR.com, the pioneer of searchable surveillance systems, today announced the security industry’s first integrated criminal database and searchable surveillance system to help banks, retailers, and law enforcement identify criminals, expedite investigations and share critical information to stop fraud. 3VR has acquired Amcrin Corporation, developers of the CrimeDex® network, a secure database of thousands of known criminals used by:

  • 295 banks and credit unions including 7 of the top 20
  • 172 law enforcement agencies including police and sheriffs offices in 10 of the nations largest metropolitan areas
  • 24 federal agencies charged with drug enforcement, border control and immigration, tax collection, criminal prosecution, homeland and port security and federal investigations
  • 5 retailers including one of the largest grocery chains and a major convenience store chain.
  • Several private investigation organizations

CrimeDex integrates with face recognition analytics in 3VR Searchable Surveillance Systems&Trade; to enable automated and collaborative alerts and information sharing to prevent fraud and expedite criminal investigations across bank branches and geographies.

"3VR pioneered the use of search, face recognition and video surveillance to combat fraud while CrimeDex has led a new wave of collaborative information sharing that has been the foundation for successfully solving thousands of crimes across the U.S.," said Steve Russell, 3VR CEO. "Now with 3VR and CrimeDex commercial organizations and law enforcement can critical information to automatically detect suspects, prevent incidents and connect the dots in serious criminal investigations."

In 2006, US Secret Service found that banks lose more than $5 billion every year from criminals assuming false identities and conducting fraudulent transactions. There were 57,555 reported cases of check fraud in 2005 and about 64,000 in 2006, according to the chief of public affairs for the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, a bureau within the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Conventional surveillance systems only capture these crimes on video with no means to stop fraudsters from striking again and again. 3VR is the first company to combine shared video, search and face recognition to automatically detect and disrupt fraud offenders. The addition of the CrimeDex database instantly augments internal watchlists with a shared industry database of known criminal suspects. 3VR search and biometric technologies enable customers to instantly query a suspect against historical archives in both internal and shared watchlists of criminals. CrimeDex and 3VR systems have already been instrumental in hundreds of arrests and investigations.

James Hudson, President of Amcrin commented: "The costs of check fraud have never been higher. With illicit profits funding terror groups and organized crime, banks can no longer simply rely on teller memory to combat fraud. We have been working with 3VR to fight criminals using the CrimeDex service. This joining of technologies is a natural evolution of a partnership which has already prevented hundreds of thousands in losses and has proven that it can expedite investigations in the nation’s banks."
