As we approach the end of 2013, it will be interesting to see what the coming year holds for security integration. As those of us in the industry are well-aware, it is becoming more important to differentiate product and service offerings because of a plethora of technologies in the market today.
San Francisco may have transformed into Gotham City last week in order to fulfill the wish of 5-year old Miles Scott, aka Batkid, but we’re excited to be headed to the real Gotham City in New York for ISC East 2013 (and again in January for NRF BIG Show!).
Join us at the Javits Center in New York City from November 20-21 at booth 438. We’ll show you how 3VR can help your company protect against loss and investigate and solves crimes quickly. You can also learn about our new line of NVRs/HVRs and VisionPoint™ VMS video management software. Whether you’re someone who needs a video solution to drive business growth or a security system integrator looking to forge new partnerships, we look forward to meeting you at ISC East.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of Typhoon Haiyan (aka Yolanda) which tore through the Philippines last week, causing millions in damages and displacing hundreds of thousands of citizens. The official death toll is currently around 2,300, but countless others are still missing. The devastation has left survivors panicked and desperate for food, clean water, shelter, and medical help.
If you would like to contribute to the relief efforts, please consider donating to the following organizations. Again, beware of fraudulent charities to make sure that your donations go where they are supposed to.
Lesson #10: Bring the Entire Team to the Summit and Back
You have guided the climbing (selling) strategy to reach the convergence summit while standing and looking at the beautiful view of the future business landscape in front of you and your IT Sherpa partners. What’s left to do?
Bring the rest of your team to the summit to enjoy the view! The security team, the line business operations team, the facilities team, and definitely the senior management team need to see the view from the summit.
It's the great 3VR pumpkin! SVP of Engineering Masa Karahashi showed off his pumpkin-carving skills this weekend and we think the results are great! It's especially fitting as we love our orange at 3VR.
If you are conducting a video investigation, Case Management makes it easier to store multiple pieces of associated video evidence, notes, and supporting documents in a case and easily share the case file. 3VR’s VisionPoint VMS video management software includes a built-in case management function, which allows you to manage evidence within a centralized interface. We are still about 10 weeks away from the end of the year, but I am willing to bet that leaking of documents by Edward Snowden will make it to one of the top news stories of 2013. Much of what has been reported since then has been around the enormity of the NSA program. The debate in the media, rightfully so, is on the ethics and legality of the program. It highlights the balance that needs to be struck between privacy and power, security and freedom, and protection and growth. What’s seldom discussed are the rapid advances in technology that makes modern surveillance so different from yesteryear.
In the first instalment of this 4-part series, we discussed how integrators can rise above the many technology and project challenges in an ever-changing security industry. A key recommendation we made was that integrators should offer scalable, feature-rich video surveillance solutions that provide a bridge to the future. In this second instalment, we explain how a flexible platform, coupled with superior services help simplify deployment and lower costs.
