Stephen Russell, founder and chairman of 3VR Security Inc., talks with Steven Titch about the concept of searchable video surveillance--how 3VR applies the techniques pioneered by Internet search companies like Google to organize and structure the billions of hours of surveillance video organizations have.

In addition, Russell, who also writes the blog In Hard Focus, discusses ways intelligence, analytics, emerging technologies and standards are creating more value for VMS systems.

3VR touts its P-Series, introduced in September, as the first video management system that combines a search engine with video analytics, allowing users to sift rapidly hours of video footage from multiple sources for specific events, images, license plates and faces.
